Anyone can be an investor on Republic. Some investors are exploring angel investing for the first time. Other Republic investors are noted for their broader contributions to the startup and investment worlds. These entrepreneurs have invested in startups for a long time — way before Republic’s founding 4+ years ago— and some of them have founded companies of their own, outside from their portfolio companies
Today, we’re introducing a new way to interact with these celebrated and seasoned investors, learn from their expertise, and follow their journey through the startup world. This way, when they invest, you can invest with them and follow the latest developments in their investing careers.
Chamillionaire, the Investor
Noted rapper and entrepreneur Chamillionaire spent the last decade-plus in the tech space. He founded Convoz in 2017 after he was unhappy with other social media channels. Formerly an Entrepreneur in Residence at UpFront Ventures — one of the largest early stage venture firms in Southern California — Cham (as CEO) and the Convoz team built a video-centric platform that aims to be "the place where you go to talk to people.”
Chamillionaire is no stranger to Republic. Last December, Republic, Chamillionaire, E40, and Shark Tank’s Daymond John partnered to find and invest $100,000 in an underrepresented founder’s company via the “$100K Convoz Pitch Competition.” Convoz hosted the competition and saw nearly 1500 pitch entries from female and minority founders. The competition concluded with ten finalists being selected alongside one grand prize winner, Fleeting Pro. (You can find more about the winners here.)
